We have an excellent opportunity for a Strategy Analyst to join our team in the Corporate Strategy function, here at Asda House. Reporting into the Senior Director for Strategy, you will support the Corporate Strategy team in setting the strategic agenda for profitable growth for Asda. This includes consulting with the business leaders across the organization to help diagnose core issues and identify opportunities; scope and assess strategic questions to recommend solutions; and support the design implementation roadmaps to enhance business performance (i.e., optimize revenue growth and profitability). You will also support the corporate annual strategic planning process, which is critical to the success of the company’s long-term direction.


What you will be responsible for:
Proactively assisting in the management of strategic projects, while reporting to Managers and aboveEstablishing effective working relationships across different business functions within the Asda businessCreating presentations and reports for the Corporate Strategy team, and external audiences to enhance strategic decision making and support recommendationsContributing to the development of your own and the team’s technical and business acumenProviding market research and analytics based insights to inform opportunities and risks for the organization, through internal and external sources, including; economic outlook, competitor activity, marketplace environment and trends impacting Asda and its stakeholdersBeing actively involved in business development activities to help identify, research and evaluate new and existing opportunitiesSupporting the evaluation of innovation opportunities to help inform decisions on which ideas should be taken forwardProactively seeking guidance, clarification and feedbackContinuously role model Asda values in everything that you do
About you:
Ideally have a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Operational Research, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Business, Engineering or related fields)Ideally have experience working in a strategy team within the Retail/Grocery sector, or related fieldStrong interpersonal skills to support teaming with others including building productive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholdersStrong PowerPoint and Excel skills. Experience working with other data analytics programmes (e.g. Tableau and Power BI) are also desirableStrong quantitative, qualitative and analytics skills, with the ability to perform data modelling, as well as demonstrate business acumen and sound judgmentStrong commercial acumen and an understanding of how a grocery retailer operates, including familiarity with typical business performance measures; P&L management; Supplier relationships; and category prioritiesKnowledge and understanding of broad functional areas/ processes and their inter-relationships to support the design and execution of cross-functional programsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAn ability to help solve complex problems and demonstrate creative thinkingThrive in a fast-moving environment, with high tolerance for change and ability to adaptAbility to support and drive research lead projectsIndependent self-starter with a can-do attitude and an eye for detail
