Retail Unit Assistant

Permanent - Full-Time

We are Britain’s Ultimate Castle… Helping guests experience the fun of real history! Do you have the Magic in you to create lifelong memorable experiences in our attraction for our guests? Do you wish to cast a spell of laughter and enjoyment to the people around you?

An exciting opportunity for a commercially minded, confident and ambitious individual with a flair for leading a team, to take their commercial career forward in Warwick Castle’s unique retailing environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing the smooth daily operation of designated retail units in line with all relevant H&S and environmental health legislation. Supported by the Retail Management team, you’ll be motivating and managing a team of retail hosts to drive sales and deliver an outstanding level of customer service. From recruitment, training, performance appraisals to discipline, you’ll take on the full range of people management responsibilities for your team.

You’ll be managing your unit accounts, working to achieve budgeted revenue, and managing labour and cost of sales. You will ensure your units are always fully stocked and are effectively merchandised. You will monitor spends, and use your initiative and experience to encourage and increase sales. You’ll lead by example when it comes to customer service, anticipating and responding to operational problems and dealing with customer complaints.

The Person

Previous retailing experience is essential, and you’ll already know a thing or two about merchandising and running a day to day profitable retail operation. Ideally you’ll have some understanding of unit accounts, particularly when it comes to meeting budgeted spends and cost of sales, but what is vital is that you’ll be passionate about driving improvements and delivering some great commercial results.

It goes without saying that you’ll be able to inspire and lead with confidence and you’ll know just how to get the best out of people.

Because of the nature of our business you will be required to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Shift times vary throughout the year. Alongside a competitive salary and 25 days holiday you can look forward to enjoying a great benefits package including a Merlin Magic Pass, allowing you to take family and friends to visit Merlin Attractions for free, 40% discount online off Lego, 25% off in our retail shops and restaurants and much more!
