About us

The Garibaldi Public House was saved from closure in 2017 by members of the local community. It has been run as a community pub since August 2017, and offers a friendly and inclusive environment for all.

The Gari is a small, but very welcoming pub, with a large beer garden and fantastic customers. While we regularly offer pop up food, our business is driven by wet sales, and we’ve been listed in the CamRA Good Beer Guide for the second year. We regularly put on live music, subscribe to Sky and BT Sports, and are host to a number of clubs, including darts teams. We’ve recently finished developing our garden to make it more accessible to all, and are pleased to say that the pub is flourishing. The Gari has a true community spirit behind it which appeals to people from all walks of life.

The lease is owned by the Friends of the Garibaldi Community Interest Company, who are seeking a general manager to run the pub on a daily basis and liaise with the local community to ensure we are catering for their needs. This is a unique opportunity to manage a pub, and also feel part of a wider community run project.

General Manager’s role

We’re looking for a candidate with previous experience, ideally as a general manager. You must have good bar and cellar experience and ideally hold your own personal license. As a community focused business, finding the right person for the job is crucial for us; we want to recruit someone who shares our passion for the community, and who enjoys working with people. You’ll need to have great communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team. You’ll have the opportunity to organise activities and events, liaise with suppliers, and most importantly, you’ll be the face of a successful community pub.

Our successful candidate will be given a high degree of independence to manage the pub on a day to day basis, but can be confident that we’ll be there to lend a hand if needed. Your role will include running the bar and cellar, monitoring supplies, and managing staff.
