Restaurant Shift Manager

You know that fish and chips is the nation’s favourite dish. You know and trust the people around you. You’re there to answer those tricky questions and on hand to coach through those difficult times. You accept that 2 for 1 is no substitute for great food and that great service is in the eye of the beholder.

You lead by example and share your enthusiasm with others. You know how to run a café or a takeaway as if it were your own and understand that in doing so makes the world a better place. You know all this and more? Or you’re keen to learn? If so, this is your calling…

What you’ll do as the Restaurant Shift Manager

We’re currently looking for an experienced Restaurant Shift Manager to come on board with the Captain to run a tight ship at our restaurant and takeaway in Llandudno Junction.

What we really need is someone who can lead and develop our brand, and further improve our high standards of customer service and great quality food.

Your day to day duties will typically include…

  • Opening and closing the store
  • Delegating tasks to crew members
  • Organising coinage and tallying and balancing cash sales
  • Liaising with customers to deliver great customer service
  • Actively promoting the restaurant in the local area through agreed marketing
  • Working alongside the Captain to discuss and implement changes
  • Liaising with cooks to organise and update blackboard specialist and menu changes, and working with the Senior Crew to achieve and maintain customer satisfaction

This is a very hands-on role, so you will need to be flexible to help the takeaway section of the restaurant during busy times, and there will be an element of cooking and serving involved.

You’ll also have the opportunity to improve the way the restaurant and takeaway is run and be encouraged to bring your suggestions and recommendations to the table.

Key skills and attributes required for the role:

  • Proven experience at supervisory level within the hospitality / catering industry
  • A positive outlook on life and fantastic motivation skills
  • Be level-headed, sensible and consistent in nature, trustworthy and reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure and at pace
  • Approachable with great people skills, and excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • Superior customer service skills
  • An understanding of health and safety and food safety

Why should you work for us?

You want to be part of something bigger, in a company that wants you to succeed as much as it does. It takes two to tango you know! Annual parties and fun days out. Product and industry knowledge - food tastings and the like. Bike to work scheme. Management development for rising stars. Oh and all the other usual stuff - paid annual holiday leave, uniform and new stuff as often as possible!

You’ll receive a salary in the region of £18,000 to £19,000, level dependent on experience and qualifications, and be employed on a permanent contract, working approximately 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. Working hours will vary from week to week dependent on how busy the restaurant is, so you will need to be flexible to suit business needs.

Location: Llandudno Junction (Conwy County, North Wales), easily accessible near the A55.
