Working Hours: Part/Full Time hours 20/40 - including some evenings and weekends

Period of appointment: Fixed Term leading to Permanent

Probationary period: 6 months

About LCBT

LCBT is a Specialist Vocational College, established in 1995 for Beauty, Retail, Holistic and related sectors and remains the largest Beauty Therapy College nationally, widely renowned within the Beauty Industry.  LCBT has now expanded to offer a wide range of courses which includes Employability Training, Apprenticeships, and a range of Health & Fitness courses.

LCBT has been directly funded since 2004 and currently has approximately 1,500 students passing through the doors each year. LCBT holds contracts with the ESFA, Education and Skills Funding Agency for the delivery of both classroom and apprenticeship learning. 

LCBT achieved Good during its last inspection and is on the journey to ‘Outstanding’ in the next full inspection.  LCBT holds the Matrix Standard for Internal and External Advice, Information and Guidance.

We are open all year and operate without term breaks. Courses start throughout the year and learners can enrol and start their course during any month of the year.

About the Education and Training Department

The Education and Training (E&T) department is friendly, fast paced and an enjoyable department. The department is responsible for providing a high standard of teaching, learning and development to all learners, through an array of different courses and strategies. 

In order to achieve these high standards all members of the Education and Training Department are required and encouraged to develop and  maintain up – to – date industry knowledge through further training and development.

The E&T department provides high levels of customer service to both internal and external clients. In order to achieve this it is important for all communication to be dealt with effectively, efficiently and in a friendly yet professional manner at all times. 

Purpose and Objectives

To lead and coordinate the development, delivery and success of LCBTs CIDESCO courses including promotion and uptake of the CIDESCO courses on offer. To maintain quality assurance across all aspects of the programmes.

 

 

Due to the roll on roll off delivery pattern offered by LCBT, changes to course offers and dates are subject to change throughout the year in line with demand and so it is crucial that this role holder is flexible and responsive to ensure the smooth running for learners and staff, as well as ensuring own delivery and teaching meets the departments KPI’s and targets.

Key responsibilities

  1. Actively promote and deliver on the CIDESCO Beauty Therapy Diploma and Post Grad Course
  2. Working with the Marketing team and other departments across college to ensure uptake and success of the course
  3. Develop marketing events to promote courses and be confident in visiting and calling salons and clinics in order to raise LCBT’s profile and attract people onto courses
  4. Ensure that Department’s physical resources and equipment develop in accordance with the need for excellence
  5. Communicate the purposes and perspectives of the department with enthusiasm and energy to internal and external audiences
  6. Continue to develop and improve viability of full cost courses
  7. Be confident in building internal and external relations to improve stakeholder engagement and course/partnership opportunities
  8. Provide clear and effective management of staff, including an active role in recruitment and training, consistent with the requirement for excellence
  9. Effective reporting to SMT and the Executive Board on progress against targets
  10. Meet agreed objectives, targets and budgets

Tutor Duties

  1. Manage, plan and deliver excellent teaching and learning personalised to individual learners.
  2. Enter student details on the Learner Management System (REMS) and update reports as required and set up and maintain group files.
  3. Adhere to all established systems within the department and implement any changes only as requested/authorised by management.
  4. Regular involvement with learners/groups once enrolled to maximise progression potential of each learner.
  5. Maintain accurate tracking systems as required within the department and ensure that all work meets internal and external funding, audit and inspection requirements.
  6. Contribute to the individual and team targets of gathering and ensuring learner progression into positive destinations.
  7. Maintain appropriate recording systems to support initial and diagnostic assessment and the delivery of this programme.
  8. Plan for, update and review adequate resources to support initial and diagnostic assessment and the delivery of this programme.
  9. Maintain quality systems within the programme.
  10. Ensure that the department complies with the college’s Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Health & Safety policies and external legislation in these areas.
  11. Attend and contribute to team meetings.
  12. Maintain internal Quality Assurance procedures for qualifications in this programme area, including delivery and marking of tests and marking of assignments.
  13. Hand in sample requests as identified by the QA and assist with external verification of qualifications in this subject area and liaise with the external verifier and moderator as necessary.
  14. Meet teaching retention, achievement and pass targets
  15. Planned teaching hours and cover where required to meet business needs

General

  • Ensure the safety of your area by complying with all Health & Safety policies and procedures and reporting any issues to the Health & Safety Manager without delay
  • Work effectively, efficiently and flexibly as an effective and committed member of the overall college team and within the department team
  • Manage work efficiently and effectively to ensure achievement of individual, team and organisational targets.
  • Adhere to all established systems within the department and implement any changes only as requested/authorised by management
  • Provide clear feedback on either potential areas for training not included within the curriculum or learners issues, suggestions and ideas
  • Ensure accurate record and data entry onto all systems as required by the department and senior management to enable accurate and full reporting
  • Attend meetings as required to maintain knowledge and contribute to the improvement of services
  • Attend any training identified by your line manager or senior management as required to meet business needs or professional development. Keep up to date in subject area and actively participate in staff development
  • Ensure all administration and other duties are carried out as outlined above within or outside the normal working week
  • Assume other duties in keeping with the role that may be required from time to time to cover holiday or staff absence and have a flexible approach to workload/duties
