Head of Purchasing - Blackburn
We’re looking for a Head of Purchasing to lead all aspects of purchasing across the group.
You will spend your time developing strong internal and external relationships and will be responsible for annual purchasing in excess of £50m
Your day to day;
- Maintaining relationships with current suppliers ensuring all agreements are upheld
- Management and development of purchasing systems and processes
- Develop and drive continuous improvement in purchasing activity
- Lead supplier reviews, tendering and contract negotiation as necessary
- Developing internal relationships, ensuring Purchasing is considered in all relevant business decisions
Who are we looking for?
Reporting to the Finance Director you will be comfortable with delivering projects and purchasing strategies at that level. You will have the ability to build strong internal relationships and influence key stakeholders.
You will have a good grasp of contractual law ensuring the compliance of all agreed terms, including; product quality, pricing and any retrospective discounts.
Experience in the FMCG industry is essential with a history in the retail or hospitality sectors being extremely desirable. You will need to keep abreast of supply and pricing dynamics in an ever-changing market. Predicting fluctuations in price, positioning the business to either take advantage of a positive situation or mitigate risk.
You will be analytical with a strong commercial acumen. Highly tuned negotiating skills are essential; you will be strong willed, authoritative and be able to communicate at all levels.
Extensive experience working in a purchasing role is essential and it is desirable to hold a relevant business degree/equivalent professional qualification and membership of relevant professional bodies.
