Head of Estates - Head Office - Tebay

Based in Cumbria we are seeking to recruit a Head of Estates to take up a key leadership role within our unique family businesses which includes Tebay Services & Gloucester Services Farmshops & Kitchens. This role will shape our strategic direction of facilities management including energy and environmental activities and will support the delivery of our health and safety agenda. If you have a track record as a senior FM (Facilities Management) professional known for delivering a high-quality, cost-effective facilities service and want to be part of a unique organisation, this could be the opportunity for you.

Reporting to Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the wider FM & HSE team including supporting capital project and infrastructure development. A highly visible delivery role which needs someone, with a strong service ethos and an inclusive leadership style who can effectively manage their teams in a dynamic and fast paced environment to deliver an excellent customer experience.

You will:

  • Ensure that FM and HSE teams are well managed, operationally effective and within budget.
  • Have in place robust, compliant and efficient systems and processes, which create and maintain a safe working environment for all customers and colleagues.
  • Model and embed a strong service ethos which places customers and colleagues at the forefront of its activities.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and relevant codes of practice
  • Support the board with design input and to manage and deliver infrastructure development projects across all sites.
  • Direct, co-ordinate and plan essential maintenance of buildings and equipment in a preventative manner.
  • Ensure your teams champion health & safety across all sites, challenging & highlighting poor practices appropriately.
  • Oversee the HSE team to review and improve company risk, deliver SHE campaigns and initiatives and to create a proactive approach to HSE.
  • Account for waste and energy management across the sites, review and innovate around our waste and energy practices
  • Oversee the management of outsourced contractors, including spend & compliance.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes that result in efficient and effective utilisation of Westmorland’s resources
  • Deliver board requirements, including preparation of monthly board report & KPI’s
  • Ensure pre- construction meetings are attended by appropriate skilled people to advice on safety planning and risk assessments activities.
  • Produce financial forecasts and budget for area of responsibly
  • Advise on, and with agreement implementing energy efficiency and sustainability projects.

You must have management experience of: Risk management, Site inspection & Investigations, method statement review, risk assessments, CDM regulations implementation, Contractor Management, waste and energy and environment management.
