Our in-house Claims Team are responsible for handling a range of Employer, Public and Product liability claims. It’s a unique set up with a diverse caseload where our Claims Team have full ownership of claims from inception through to settlement. We are now looking for a Claims Manager to continue to drive and improve the performance of the team.
It’s a fast paced, high volume environment with a strong team ethic where everyone works towards the same shared goals. With diverse claims and varied stakeholder group, no two days are the same. As Claims Manager, you have a tangible contribution to make not only directly to our claims management approach, but also to the processes and risks within the wider business.
This role would suit individuals with strong claims management backgrounds who are looking for a new and exciting challenge in a fast paced environment.

What you’ll be responsible for:
  • The development and management of the Claims Handling Team, including claims handling strategies and processes, as well as overall technical input.
  • Managing a small caseload of high value personal injury claims working alongside our external providers to ensure proactive management and resolution.
  • Manage and develop effective partnerships with external providers and suppliers.
  • Mentoring and leadership of direct reports and the wider Claims Handling Team.
  • Leading the Claims Handling Team to ensure effective delivery against KRAs and strategy.
  • Determining appropriate control measures and risk improvements to prevent the reoccurrence of incidents or reduction of impact by identifying causes, trends and areas for improvements and providing proactive support, feedback and coaching on claims investigation and performance to stores, depots, regional managers and business units
  • About you:

    You will have strong demonstrable experience managing claims teams including volume pre-litigated or MOJ claims. Whilst not directly handling litigated matters, you will need strong litigation and CPR knowledge to ensure continual improvements in processes and handling, as well as ensuring we have effective partnerships on litigated claims.

    The team operates within a fast paced and high pressure environment. As such, you will need to be able to think differently and diversely in your assessment of risk and decision making whilst maintaining attention to detail. It is also essential that you have the ability to thrive under pressure with good planning, time management, prioritisation and organisation skills.

    You’ll be dealing with key internal and external stakeholders on a frequent basis and will need well developed communication and presentation skills and the ability to influence at all levels and cross functionally. You’ll also need the ability to explain complex legal matters to non-legal personnel in a simple and succinct way.

    There is a strong team ethic and you’ll be expected to work collaboratively both within the legal department and the wider business. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to drive the function forwards and you will need to demonstrate creative thinking and a desire to improve the claims handling process.
