IT Helpdesk Technician - Cheddar

The IT department at Darwin Escapes has a vacancy available for an IT Helpdesk Technician to join their team.

This role is for a dedicated and enthusiastic Helpdesk Technician with experience working in IT support or a similar IT role.

The successful candidate will be hard working, self motivated and proactive, with a strong enthusiasm for troubleshooting technical problems and dedication to seeing issues through to resolution.
Being adaptable and willing to learn new skills is essential, as is being a team player who works well with others and is focussed on achieving team goals as well as personal goals.

The role will primarily be based at Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa, in Somerset. However, you may occasionally be required to travel to other beautiful UK locations within our portfolio of holiday resorts.

A full UK driving licence is required, although a pool car will be available when required to travel.

The IT Helpdesk Technician role is a permanent, full time position where you will be required to work weekdays, however please note that occasional weekend or evening work may be required.

This position is suitable for anyone looking for IT jobs within a commutable distance of Cheddar in Somerset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support to company employees by phone, email and face to face
  • Communicate effectively with team members, staff and third parties at all levels
  • Monitor and prioritise support incidents and enquiries, escalating where necessary
  • Take a proactive approach to tackling problems, finding solutions and ensure all incoming IT support incidents are dealt with in a timely and effective manner
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware faults
  • Work in an organised, efficient manner and keep accurate records of incident progress
  • Perform basic IT housekeeping and maintain up to date documentation
  • Develop familiarity with a wide variety of IT systems to provide support across the business
  • Create and maintain user accounts and mailboxes
  • Liaise with 3rd parties where required to ensure issues are resolved
  • Perform occasional other tasks as and when requested to do so by the Head of IT


What experience you will need

  • Some knowledge on basic networking and internet access
  • Fault diagnosis, investigation and resolution
  • Previous experience with PC's, laptops, mobile phones, printers and file permissions
  • Experience in call logging systems, Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite, printers and file permissions and anti virus products
  • Installing software, patches, updates on desktops and laptops
  • Experience in the following is beneficial; Citrix XenApp or Remote Desktop Services, DNS, DHCP, iOS/MacOS, structured cabling, asset management, network switches, routers and firewalls
  • Hardware / software support
