Receptionist | Oak Tree Leisure Centre

Working Hours: 13.5 approx. Tues & Thurs 3.45pm – 9.15pm, every other Sat 8am – 1pm

Salary: £9.36 per hour

An exciting opportunity has arisen, as we are currently recruiting for a Part time Receptionist based at Oak Tree Leisure Centre to work the hours stated above.

As part of Mansfield District Leisure Trust, Oak Tree Leisure Centre is a modern leisure facility that breathes quality being built in 2006. The facilities include a 65 newly refurbished gym, 3 dance studios with a dedicated spinning studio offering over 35 classes a week (Including Les Mills fitness classes, Body Pump, RPM and Body Balance), a 4 court sports hall and spectator seating, a crèche, and a health suite compromising of a relaxing lounge and spa facilities.

We are looking for candidates who have excellent communications skills, either face to face or over the telephone, have a calm and approachable manner with good administrative skills and is comfortable handling cash. The successful candidates will be required to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the reception area and shop and that all procedures for the area are up to date and followed. 

Main Responsibilities

  • To welcome all visitors to the facility in a warm and helpful manner.
  • Taking bookings for the use of facilities by members of the public, both in person and over the phone- correctly entering bookings in diary and onto booking system
  • Operating at FRONT OF HOUSE and accounting correctly for cash and stock. Also, to replenish stock in reception
  • Ensure that the reception area is clean and ready for use and is maintained in a tidy manner and carry out a variety of cleaning tasks as required.
  • To be tactful and diplomatic in dealing with enquires and complaints
  • To be clear, logical and articulate in responding to requests for information
  • To undertake a quarterly stock take and report to Senior Receptionist.
  • Check deliveries and pricing of stock.
  • To account correctly for cash and stock, including daily cash reconciliation and recording.
  • To maintain stocks of literature and brochures.
  • Control of persons entering the building.
  • To operate the lost property procedure ensuring safe keeping of articles.
  • To attend Team meetings as required.
  • To processing Ultimate Leisure card, bonus card, direct debit applications and complete direct debit mandate for appointed collection agency.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Customer Service NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in similar field
  • Hold GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in Maths and English level C or above
  • Have previous experience of working in a similar role/environment is desirable
  • Good communication and customer care skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • The ability to handle cash and maintain records
  • A good telephone manner
  • Use of IT systems (In house systems training will be given)
