Area Manager - Work in Europe!

Job Role Summary:

To be responsible for the delivery and performance of all aspects of the Neilson Ski & Snowboard programme in your gateway, including Neilson Mountain Collection, Neilson Mountain Experts and all associated 3rdparty suppliers.

To manage the team of overseas staff and to be accountable for all service, product, commercial and financial aspects of your gateway.

Working closely with Head of Winter to ensure a consistent approach to programme development, improving the customer offering, developing in-resort sales and optimising programme profitability.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Deliver the ski programme in resort to agreed standards within agreed budgets.
  • Implement set KPIs, ensuring that all hotel and operational budgets are measured and reported on a monthly basis
  • Ensure all financial processes are managed accurately including 3rd party supplier payments, monthly reconciliation of company bank accounts, and staff payroll
  • Ensure effective delivery of 'Blueprint' standards in all NMC units
  • Safeguard the effective delivery and reporting of the Neilson Mountain Expert product
  • Help and support the Head of Club Development to create a Neilson Mountain Collection pipeline by proactively contacting suppliers and property owners to find potential hotels/chalets that could be suitable additions to the future Neilson Mountain Collection portfolio
  • Guarantee that the ski operation is compliant, under local laws, UK tour operating law and all Health & Safety legislation. Monitor, audit and update as required
  • Take responsibility for 3rd party bed acquisition and to negotiate favourable rates as guided by the Director of Winter 
  • Manage the Neilson “Be Safe” compliance process and work with local agencies and suppliers to ensure the safety of all customers and staff
  • Marketing responsibilities include ensuring the use of up to date in resort branding that complies with company guidelines, management of Social Media activity, hosting press trips and educationals to promote Neilson Ski 
  • Liaison with airlines and local airports to ensure effective airport days – control of the airport as often as possible

Performance Management:

  • You may be actively involved in the recruitment of new staff for your resort in accordance with HR procedures and policies
  • Identify the training needs of departmental staff to meet business plans and objectives
  • Provide feedback to staff through ongoing performance reviews and regular team meetings
  • Ensure that motivation is maintained through recognition, reward, incentives and planned social activities
  • Ensure that disciplinary and grievance procedures are adhered to in conjunction with company HR policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all staff are well presented and wearing the correct uniform at all times
