Senior Sales Assistant - Yankee Candle - Wembley, London

16 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Retail store team at Yankee Candle Wembley.

Role Overview: To assist the management team in maximising every sales opportunity by making the customer the priority every day. Acting as a role model to maximise every sales opportunity for the store and wider business by delivering an exceptional customer service experience that is consistent with our Brand culture and in store way of working.

Roles and Responsibilities included but not limited to:

Selling and Customer Service

  • Creates an environment where the team are focused and challenged to delight the customer and deliver a memorable shopping experience as the world’s leader of home fragrance
  • Communicates with absolute clarity that the customer is the priority focus for all activities, every day
  • Understands how to use the 6-step selling tool ‘FRAGRANCE’ to deliver the service vision consistently and drive sales
  • Identifies all selling opportunities by actively approaching all customers without being prompted with the intention of building rapport, offering relevant products and closing the sale
  • Treats the customer as the primary focus at all times and is prepared to go out of their way to meet the customers’ needs
  • Sells all products with passion, enthusiasm and actively educates the customer about safe candle care
  • Meets and exceeds customer expectations by striving to resolve all queries both in person and on the phone, ensuring that every customer leaves completely satisfied in line with our 100% Happiness Guarantee

People Management

  • Motivates a team of people to deliver results
  • Assists the Management team in leading the team to meet and exceed KPIs for the store
  • Coaches and develops the team to maximise their potential, increase performance and encourage retention
  • Uses all available resources to train the team effectively
  • Able to articulate and communicate accurate feedback about performance in a constructive and developmental manner

Commercial awareness

  • Has an awareness and understanding of store performance and all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in relation to them – Sales, ATV and Conversion
  • Strives to continually meet and exceed KPIs for the store each working day and consistently drives themselves and others in a dynamic way to achieve targets
  • Aware of the current business focus, best sellers and promotional offers and communicates these regularly to customers as part of the selling process

Strategic and Commercial Management

  • Uses day to day reports to monitor and act pro-actively to improve KPIs
  • Assists the management team in merchandising the store according to visual planograms and brand standards to create an engaging shopping experience and increase footfall
  • Be commercially aware and reactive to sales and acting on stock levels and space to maximise sales
  • Gives quality, factual trading feedback that is accurate and constructive
  • Consistently self motivated during peak and non peak trading times, and adapts own working hours to suit the needs of the business where appropriate

Product Knowledge

  • Makes use of all available training tools including the Yankee Candle website, product catalogues and regular business communications to offer confident and professional recommendations and advice
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all product features and benefits
  • Able to clearly communicate burn times, price and recommend products to suit each customers’ needs
  • Seeks opportunities to develop and learn and is committed to using self-learning in combination with all Yankee Candle provided training resources to expand knowledge

Store operations

  • Required to assist in regular movement of heavy stock on a daily basis
  • Ensure immaculate presentation of the full store at all times in terms of cleanliness, organisation and merchandising of both the sales floor and back of house areas.
  • Ensures that all tasks and requests are dealt with accurately and in a timely manner and adheres at all times to company policies and procedures
  • Maintains consistent visual merchandising and housekeeping standards at all times
  • Processes sales through the till accurately, with care and attention and adheres to all cash handling procedures
  • Practices excellent stock control, security and is aware of potential shoplifters. Informing management of anything suspicious as a priority
  • Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to all regulations under the Health and Safety at Work Act
