Asda has a true Every Day Low Cost (EDLC) culture, where procurement plays an integral role in delivering one of the businesses key strategic priorities.
Across the team we are involved with and support virtually every area of the business. The team also have access to the latest procurement technology including Ariba, e-auction capability, and market intelligence tools, as well as being part of a global Walmart procurement network, with opportunities to share best practice across the international markets.
What you’ll be responsible for
This Buying Manager role within the Operations Procurement team offers real diversity and challenge. You'll support our stores and depots by leading the procurement of everything they need to operate - identifying value creation and savings opportunities across Packaging, Uniform, Consumables, Security and many other categories. Your activity will not just be commercial buying events, it will also include leading some of our largest and most strategic supplier relationships and outsourcing partnerships, sourcing goods and services from around the world.
You will also
It goes without saying that you’ll have a passion for buying with a self-starting drive and tenacity. To enable you to hit the ground running you’ll need the ability to negotiate confidently, effectively and creatively whether it be tactical or strategic. You’ll also need a proven track record in Procurement. A CIPS accreditation would be advantageous although not essential.
We are committed to driving an Every Day Low Cost culture and the ability to identify opportunities and deliver sustainable value will support this key strategic priority. You’ll also need the ability to work cross functionally and credibly influence and communicate to stakeholders at all levels, up to and including our Chief Retail Officer.
With a real commitment to support and develop our colleagues, you should have a desire to strive for excellence, strong commercial acumen and a commitment to self-development. As we continue our journey to be more data driven, strong analytical abilities coupled with strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to create and exploit powerful MI are essential.
Your benefits
As well as a competitive salary, you’ll receive an excellent benefits package including a company car/car allowance, private medical cover, colleague discount and a competitive pension scheme. We also like to share our success, so every eligible colleague is also part of the Asda bonus scheme.
