Job purpose

The role of the Physical Activity Officer is to support managers and project leads in a range of programmes and work areas. The role will work closely with the Health Development Officer and will be responsible for delivering against key aims and KPIs outlined in the annual development plan for the team. The role will assist in the delivery of a range of programmes and initiatives for the benefit of 1Life services users and the wider community.

Key Accountabilities

  1. To work towards the 1Life health and wellbeing, physical activity and sport strategy, commitments and products.

  2. To provide a range of products and services for local communities, in partnership with our clients and key local stakeholders.To ensure projects and programmes work for the benefit of the local community and that the services we provide deliver against local need.

  3. To support and assist delivery with the Health Development Officer and project leads to develop a range of programmes and initiatives within the team, making us a key hub for our local communities.

  4. To lead on the delivery and development of your area and range of projects.This will include responsibility for the planning, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and finances of projects.

  5. To develop a sound knowledge of the area(s) of delivery and localities.

  6. To develop positive working relationships with a wide range of organisations including, but not limited to, national governing bodies of sport, public health teams, health and wellbeing groups, county sports partnerships, local sports development teams, local community sports networks, county councils and local NHS providers.

  7. Ensure attendance at relevant local meetings, forums and networks.

  8. To work towards specific aims, objectives and key performance indicators.

  9. To work closely with the local authority to ensure projects and programmes work for the benefit of the local community and that the services we provide deliver against local need.

  10. To support the wider company in relation to national programmes and events as and when required.

  11. To ensure projects and programmes work towards national priorities and agendas where applicable.

  12. Ensure thorough monitoring and evaluation takes place across all initiatives to show the impact and outcomes of our programmes and the department as a whole.

  13. To work towards specific KPIs which will include areas such as data capture, reputation building, engaging new people, securing funding and income generation.
