PR Manager

Permanent contract – 40 hours per week

We currently have an exciting vacancy for an outstanding PR Manager to join us.

The successful candidate for this PR Manager role will have:

• At least five years’ experience in PR in a B2C environment, ideally gained in a leisure, tourism, or conservation organisation
• Degree educated, with first class communication skills, you’ll have enviable media contacts and be at home online
• Demonstrable experience of advising and influencing senior stakeholders and strong crisis communications skills
• The capability of working collaboratively on targeted marketing campaigns, creating content to generate media opportunities
• Experience of leading a team, managing a constant and heavy stream of media enquiries, and facilitating film crews in a complex environment
• A highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, innovative person with the required creativity and resilience to achieve results
• A highly organised work ethic and able to successfully manage and prioritise a varied and demanding workload

The successful candidate for this PR Manager role will be responsible for:

• Developing and leading the organisation’s PR / media relations strategy
• Managing all proactive and reactive media campaigns in line with the zoo’s mission and values
• Ensuring full exposure across all press/media channels whilst continuing to build relationships with journalists
• Promoting and protecting the reputation of Chester Zoo and the North of England Zoological Society through effective, accurate and timely external and internal communication
• Managing the PR team, working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation

Your working hours will be 40 hrs per week, 5 out of 7 days set on a rota basis, including regular weekends and bank holidays.
