GLL makes community services and spaces better for everyone. And it’s about more than just money. Our people invest time, energy and effort into helping and improving communities through the services we offer - and with great results. Through “Better” we provide leisure centres, children’s services, spas, libraries, extreme spots, event spaces and standalone gyms.

The Sands Centre in Carlisle, Cumbria is looking for Stage Crew to assist with the set up and take down of shows and events in the main Hall for shows and events which includes instillation / removal of staging, drapes, barriers, sound and lighting equipment. The normal working hours for this would be evenings - sometimes late into the night, weekend and occasional day shifts during panto season.

Operated by GLL, the UK's largest charitable social enterprise, The Sands Centre is Cumbria's and South West Scotland's premier venue for entertainment and sports. The centre caters to over 750,000 customers a year and plays host to an exciting mix of shows for all the family, some of comedy's biggest names, musicals from the West End, international orchestras, pop artists, ballet and opera.

As Stage Crew, you'll help with the set up and take down of events on both small and large scales; some heavy lifting tasks and working at height may also be required, so a reasonable level of physical fitness will be necessary. There is usually a quick turnaround for events, so you'll need to be able to work within set timeframes. You'll understand the importance of maintaining a safe work environment and be able to follow health and safety protocols.

You'll most likely have experience of working in event set ups in a theatre, events venue or concert hall. Your attention to detail, professionalism and high standards of health and safety will be second to none. Although working as part of a wider team, you will be expected to manage yourself and your own workload and be self-motivating.

In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:

  • Pension schemes
  • Discounted membership at our leisure centres
  • Career pathways
  • Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best

If you think you'd be a good fit for this role, apply now.

Please note, an enhanced rates of pay apply for a selection of specific tasks that may be carried out. A minimum three hour call applies for set up and take downs.

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications, age and location.
