The brand concept combines a traditional golf environment with state-of-the-art health and wellness facilities, a food and beverage offer and other ancillary services to create and all-round lifestyle destination for the whole family. More specifically, the Clubs typically offer a variety of facilities including gym, group fitness studios, swimming pools, wet spa, crèche, health and beauty, tennis, championship golf courses, bar, restaurant and lounges.  Five of the Clubs offer accommodation on site ranging from 7 to 56 bedrooms.

A great opportunity has arisen to join our central accounts team based in Knowl Hill, Reading. The position forms part of a small, dynamic accounts team working to strict deadlines.

ASSISTANT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller responsible for cash book, online banking and treasury, balance sheet control accounts and bank reconciliations for our golf and country clubs.  In addition, the role will embrace, along with other members of the team, other general accounting functions across the entire group for some of the duties detailed below.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Bank & Treasury administration, involving multiple online bank accounts, the reporting of daily balances and movements, together with the processing of bank payments and inter-account transfers.
  • Import of weekly sales information, completion of cash book journals and reconciliation for a number of group bank accounts.
  • Analysis of direct online BACS receipts and advising clubs by email on a daily basis.
  • Collection and analysis of membership data and preparation od deferred income controls and journal posting documents on excel spreadsheets.
  • Completion of monthly membership subscription prediction on a weekly basis.
  • Completion of weekly sales reports for management.
  • Completion of various routine monthly accruals and prepayments journals
  • Review of closing stock reports, analysis and investigation of discrepancies and posting of closing stock journals.
  • Other balance sheet reconciliations including group intercompany reconciliation.
  • Input, interrogation and analysis of data in both our accounting, membership, hotel and other databases systems.
  • Liaison with external auditors as required
  • Ad-hoc accounting duties commensurate with the position as and when needed.

The Person

  • Part qualified with a recognised accounting body or “qualified by experience”.
  • Experience of accounting and database systems and in-depth spreadsheet skills
  • Financial reconciliation skills including bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Have a positive approach to meeting deadlines
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and on own initiative, but still as part of the accounts team
