Apprentice Nursery Early Years Teaching Assistant - Doncaster

Saltersgate Infant School is located in Scawsby which is towards the north of the town of Doncaster, South Yorkshire.  The building, surrounded by ample playing fields and sharing a site with its feeder infant school, was erected in the early 1960’s.  It contains twelve classrooms, four year groups and a pupil population of around 360.  There are thirty-four children on the special educational needs register, of whom six have statements of need.  

To develop partnerships with parent/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development. To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the nursery lead and headteacher. To complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship.

 

  • To ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others

  • To complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship
  • To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times
  • To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress
  • To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times
  • To understand and work to school policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
  • To plan small activities with the support of the nursery lead, which ensures each child is working towards the early learning outcomes
  • To ensure records are properly maintained, eg daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments
  • To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents involvement under the direction of the nursery lead
  • To adhere to health and safety policies and ensure the health and hygiene or children
  • To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan
  • To undertake any other duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery aims and objectives

The successful candidate:

 

  • Have good organisational skills 
  • Ability to facilitate and support the work of team members
  • GCSE in Maths and English grades A – C (9 - 4) or equivalent
