Paralegal – Commercial, Trading & Disputes

We have a fantastic role for a Commercial, Trading and Disputes Paralegal to join the Asda Legal Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Paralegal to join a fast moving, successful and extremely competitive business within a friendly, hard-working and professional in-house legal team.


What you’ll be responsible for:

Commercial and Intellectual Property Assisting with commercial queries and providing practical advice to the businessLiaising with teams in the business and the external legal advisers to manage trademark portfolioReviewing new product designs from an IP perspectiveAssisting with the investigation of potential IP disputes
LitigationDealing with all commercial small claims including seeking instructions, drafting defences, preparing witness statements and compiling instructions to counselConducting settlement negotiations and engaging in small claims mediationDrafting and negotiating settlement agreements Assisting with legal advice on customer and colleague ad-hoc queries Supporting on higher value litigation, including disclosureDealing with judgments, monitoring the register of judgments and enforcement
TradingAdvising the business on the legal implications of trading matters, including GSCOP

About you:
With a Law degree or equivalent, you’ll have previous experience carrying out Legal (or similar) support work, either within a law firm or an in-house roleYou should have experience of managing competing demands and working well under pressure with excellent organisational skills and acute attention to detailYou’ll be able to use a range of IT packages to a high standard, including word processing (Microsoft Word), electronic diary and e-mail management (Microsoft Outlook), spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint)Commercially aware ideally with an interest in Retail, you’ll have a strong desire to learn and undertake new and challenging work-streamsYou’ll be comfortable working as part of a close team, working independently and interacting across all levels of the businessYou’ll possess strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with good drafting and presentation skills
