Apprenticeship Framework and Level: Leisure Operations and Leisure Management - Intermediate Level Apprenticeship

Working Week: 37 hours per week

Weekly Wage: £144.30

Contract Duration: 12 to 15 months

South Ribble Tennis Centre are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Apprentice to learn and support the management of all operational aspects of the facility to ensure a high standard of service at all times.

Vacancy Full Description:

South Ribble Tennis Centre are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join their dynamic team and start learning from day one.

Job Duties:

  • Support the management team to direct and motivate the operational team to ensure a quality service delivery
  • Support the delivery of information, instruction, induction and training to operational staff to ensure they fulfil their roles in an efficient and safe manner
  • Support the management of events such as accidents and emergencies and undertake follow up investigations as required
  • Support the management of compliance with statutory requirements and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a visible profile throughout the facility and respond positively to customer needs, expectations and comments
  • Support the management of cash security and ensure financial procedures are complied with
  • Support the delivery of regular meetings and ensure effective communication within the Operational team.
  • Support the management of disciplinary and grievance investigations.
  • Support the management of the absence management policy.
  • Undertake specific tasks as determined by the line manager
  • Support the process of Recruitment, induction and training for employees to the required standard
  • Consistently and actively apply good housekeeping principles, such as turning off lights and equipment when not in use, in order to contribute to our strategy to reduce utility consumption and carbon footprint.
  • Learn about the commercial aspects of the business.

Skills Required:

Candidates must be confident and approachable as you will be the first point of contact at the leisure centre.

Prospects: Potential to move on to further qualifications and job roles.

Training to be Provided:

  • NVQ Level 2 – Team Leader
  • Basic Food Hygiene
  • First Aid at Work
  • IOSH – Institute of Health & Safety
  • Functional Skills in Maths
  • Functional Skills in English
  • Functional Skills in ICT

Other Information:

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.90 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £6.15 an hour for 18-20-year olds, £7.70 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £8.21 for those over 25. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). These rates apply from 1st April 2019.
