We are currently recruiting for enthusiastic Accounts Payable clerks with various backgrounds to join our brand new Finance Hub based in Basingstoke.

Scope of the Role

In this role you will be a key team player, processing invoices, expenses and payment runs accurately and in a timely manner, leveraging new technology and automation tools. You will be responsible for handling internal and external enquiries regarding payment for our multiple entities internationally. Merlin has invested in new Finance tools such as NetSuite, Concur and OCR and the successful candidate will be an integral part of making the new team a success.   

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain purchase ledgers - receive, record, process all purchase documents (invoices, credit notes, prepayments etc).
  • Process invoices using 3-Way match and manual coding.
  • Process employee expenses.
  • Maintain multiple mailboxes.
  • Prepare weekly and adhoc payment runs, in multiple currencies, for authorisation.
  • Manage business and supplier queries.
  • Reconcile supplier statements.
  • Maintain and add supplier details onto the Purchase Ledger.
  • Assist with the AP month end close process.
  • Investigate and clear down un-allocated payments.
  • Follow up and speedily resolve 'on hold’ invoices through engagement with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Investigate and obtain approval of invoices from correct authorisers.
  • Managing assigned accounts and investigating aged items to resolution.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • At least 2 years' experience of working within an accounts payable role and/or Shared Service Centre environment is desirable..
  • Finance Graduates will be considered.
  • Experience of image scanning and or purchase order systems would be beneficial.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Requires a track record of success in Accounting and Cash Management functions.
  • Requires strong analytical and decision making skills.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective team player and confident communicating with International and UK suppliers.
  • Understanding of audit and compliance requirements.
  • Willingness to learn new Financial systems.
