BI Analyst / MI Analyst

As one of largest retailers in the UK, Asda generates an enormous volume of transactional and operational data on a daily basis. Working within the Enabling Technologies Data Development Team you’ll have access to a wide range of business data for the multiple departments that form Global Business Services and enable the delivery of solutions that shape the way we operate from reporting dashboards to business process insight and improvement.
We’re interested in people who like technical challenges as well as a passion for creating great data solutions. You'll be passionate about both technology and data and be able to work to tight timescales as part of a larger team. You'll also be capable of working closely with non-technical business users to ensure solutions are delivered on time.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Working as part of the Data Development team in an Agile, DevOps environmentCreating and supporting MI/BI using tools such as Alteryx / SQL Server and Tableau / PowerBIRetrieving, interpreting and manipulating large volumes of dataYou’ll be working with colleagues around the business to understand and gather their requirements to deliver fit-for-purpose solutionsProviding effective and timely support in requests for ad hoc data analysis and reporting requirements
About you:

Good people skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions in a manner appropriate for a variety of audiencesPrevious experience in data manipulation and creation of MI/BI with a strong SQL skillsetExperience in visualisation software (Tableau, SSRS, PowerBI) is essentialThe ability to self-manage development of solutions and create clear and concise technical documentation and user guidesAbility to work in a project driven environment, providing development plans and action updatesExcellent organisational skills with a proven ability to work under pressure and to set deadlinesPrevious experience of working within a Shared Services / Global Business Services environment would be advantageous although not essential
