Buyer -  Meat, Fish & Poultry

Our Daylesford family is growing, and we are looking for an experienced and passionate Meat, Fish & Poultry Buyer to join our team, based in London or Gloucestershire.

Full time contract, 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 9am-6pm. Competitive salary plus bonus

About you

As our Meat, Fish & Poultry Buyer you’ll be part of a team of 5 buyers responsible for the commercial performance of our extensive range within our stores and wholesale business. You will posses in depth knowledge of the meat supply chain and retail outlets. Experience within an organic system would be an advantage. You’ll combine great commercial awareness with an entrepreneurial spirit as well as the ability to manage a challenging supply base. You’ll be a food lover at heart with excellent relationship management skills. You won’t be reliant on “big company” systems and be comfortable analysing and interpreting raw data. This is a busy role within a high-performing business critical team. You must be up for the challenge!

Main responsibilities;

  • To manage accreditation quality, service and cost across major suppliers through a structured approach to supply relationship management with clear KPI’s, terms of business and continuous review
  • To define, own and deliver a range that reflects the Food retail strategy and embraces quality, innovation, sustainability and seasonality and is brought to life across relevant sales channels
  • To work closely with Wholesale Manager to maximize category performance
  • To deliver budgeted sales, waste and margin and carry out category reviews each month
  • To own cost and retail prices across the categories ensuring system accuracy and ensure any changes are communicated to the business in a timely manner
  • To own and manage yield through the business on meat, poultry and fish working closely with Wholesale and Kitchens teams
  • To lead and support on assigned NPD projects using the agreed NPD process and work with relevant stakeholders to maximize sales at launch
  • To work with butchers, kitchens and sales teams to deliver against agreed targets (range, ordering, availability, standards)
  • To be at the fore front of market trends and innovation within the category
