Junior MI Analyst / MI Assistant

Within our Global Business Services (GBS), our Finance Continuous Improvement team have a thorough understanding of all Finance, trading systems and all applicable data sources to assist with system support, business initiatives and delivering business improvements. They are the link between ISD and the Trading Floor, liaising with Wal-Mart International Operations ensuring new developments are implemented on time with minimal disruption.

As a Junior MI Analyst / MI Assistant, you will work with the team to support the effective implementation of new trading systems and processes. You will build relationships with Trading colleagues and the GBS Finance teams, to understand their needs by seeking feedback to design and implement improved ways of working.

You will need excellent knowledge of Excel including use of macros and formulae along with a good understanding of VBA. It is also beneficial if you have some practical experience of SQL, Alteryx and Tableau with the willingness to learn more as training will be provided.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Within the role you will identity opportunities for smarter ways of working – driving productivity and customer service improvements, you will:
  • Drive business improvements by developing system and process solutions within Trading, using VBA / SQLskills
  • Be accountable for the delivery of small projects, supporting system and process change, business initiatives and activities
  • Become familiar with relevant databases and support data analysis requests from the business
  • Work closely with our IT department and Global Business Services teams to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Validate new systems and processes
  • Collaborate with the training team to ensure developments are understood and are communicated / trained effectively
  • Advise and coach colleagues, promoting best practice
  • Investigate and resolve system / process related queries, escalating to IT as necessary
  • Support the creation and on-going maintenance of coupons and restrictions, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • About you:

    You will possess the ability to pick up new systems and process quickly and have a through and methodical approach. You will possess:
  • Excellent understanding of Excel (Macros, Formulae)
  • Basic working knowledge of VBA and SQL
  • Alteryx and Tableau experience desirable, training will be provided
  • Quality focussed with an eye for detail
  • Analytical, with the ability to resolve problems
  • Strong time-management, planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an enthusiastic and positive approach
  • Confidence to communicate with colleagues from all areas of the business

  • Computer literate (Outlook, Word)
