We have a fantastic opportunity for an optimistic and motivated Groups, Conferences & Events (GCE) Sales Executive to join our Commercial team at The Trafalgar St. James, Curio Collection by Hilton. Join one of the most iconic hotels in Central London, right on Trafalgar Square, and help us to create a wondrous place in people’s lives.

This role is responsible for handling and managing all groups, conferences and events in the hotel. You will have a target driven mentality with the desire to win and retain business and exceed service standards. You will be a team player, have excellent communication skills and attention to detail, and will be able to maintain a positive and calm outlook regardless of what challenges the shift might bring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and convert incoming enquiries to achieve targets and maximize revenue
  • Negotiate budgets with customers
  • Draw up contracts for groups, conferences and events
  • Manage an events diary to maximise yield
  • Focus on a consistently executed up-selling approach
  • Build strong relationships with customers to fully understand their needs
  • Ensure that all client requests are answered efficiently and with agility
  • Arrange and carry out Hotel show rounds
  • Create groups & events in the systems, update payment instructions and enter all relevant important information
  • Ensure the seamless transition of clients and events from contract stages through to the delivery of the event and follow up post event

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate is an individual who cares about providing excellent service to our guests and who can use their intuition and creativity to deliver a wondrous experience for everyone. The ability to multitask and prioritise is important, as well as the ability to work well under pressure. As a minimum we would expect you to have excellent command of spoken English, and immaculate personal presentation and an ability to engage and connect with guests, with a creative, forward thinking approach. Flexibility to work a variety of shift patterns and a desire to provide exceptional customer service is essential. Experience within reactive sales, client show rounds and events planning is preferable, however we recruit for attitude rather than experience and will give you the tools to ensure you will be successful in your role.

  • Demonstrated previous experience working in a Sales environment

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Knowledge of the hotel property management systems i.e. ONQ , Opera, Delphi
  • Demonstrated previous experience working in the Conference and Events function
  • Qualification, degree, or certification in a relevant field
