We’re seeking an Assistant Director of Finance to join the Strand Palace team. This opportunity comes at an exciting time for the hotel. Your input will have a direct impact the business as we are undergoing a multi-million-pound investment in readiness for the 2020s.

The ideal candidate

This role is ideal for a hospitality professional with Finance experience that is ready for their next step. Ideally you will have 12 months plus management experience. You will have a warm personality, be genuinely interested in building lasting relationships and competitive in nature.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and provide financial reports for the hotel under the umbrella of the company accounting system. Comply with company timetables and policies

• Ensure the balance sheet is a fair reflection of the assets and liabilities of the hotel. The balance sheet must be regularly reviewed and reconciliations performed of all accounts

• Develop best practise financial accounting and control procedures. This must be an area of continuous review and development with the aim of maximising both impact and efficiency

• Ensure compliance of hotel’s VAT, payroll, taxation and administrative matters with regulatory requirements, GDPR and PCI

• Ensure all purchasing within the hotel is carried out via purchase order system and are signed as authorised by DOF and GM

• Utilise reporting incorporating benchmarking, identification and measurement of key performance indicators. Reporting should not only look to historical performance within the hotel, but also outwards and forwards

• Alongside the DOF manage the formulation, review and approval process for budgeting within the hotel

• Provide support and advice on financial and commercial matters to the hotel team, including the interpretation of financial data

• Establish and maintain good employee relations within the Finance Department

Our hotel 

Strand Palace has welcomed guests since 1905. Our journey has been very special and there is no stopping us. All 785 guestrooms are being refurbished and they feature a modern art deco style, providing a fresh and utilitarian aesthetic.

Work has just been completed in the hotel’s public areas including a new restaurant and bar Haxells, in a modern and contemporary style. The hotel attracts a wide demographic, across all ages, for both leisure and business travel, from a variety of domestic and international markets.
