Hours: Part time and Full time

Salary: £9.50 per hour

An exciting opportunity has arisen as we’re currently recruiting for Gymnastics Instructors to work Part time and Full time hours between Monday to Sunday.

Birmingham City Council and Sport England are investing £8.5 million in the development which will feature a state-of-the-art gym with approximately 135 stations offering the latest in fitness equipment, a 25-metre swimming pool with timing equipment for competition events and spectator seating for 250 people, a teaching pool, a dance studio, relaxation, sauna and steam areas and a café.  The project is part of a citywide investment of nearly £40million to give Birmingham residents leisure and exercise facilities fit for the twenty first century.

The leisure centre, on newly regenerated land adjacent to Ladywood Middleway will bring exciting new sports, fitness and swimming opportunities to the communities of Ladywood and nearby Edgbaston, as well as to new residential developments in the city centre and the Jewellery Quarter.

Unique in being located on a new site, Ladywood Leisure Centre is the fourth new centre to be built and managed in Birmingham by Birmingham Community Leisure Trust (BCLT), working in partnership with Birmingham City Council (BCC).

Job Purpose:

 To instruct individuals or groups in the art of gymnastics or other associated activities. The gymnastics instructor will have responsibility for the safety and skill advancement of pupils in their care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Gymnastics coach co-ordinator to help further develop the Gymnastic Program.
  • Assist in the communication and promotion of the centre's services.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with clients, ensuring clients are keep up to date, informed, welcomed and valued.
  • Ensure the equipment is in a safe, working condition at all times and to maintain a high level of cleanliness across all areas of the facility
  • Assist in the set up/downs of equipment prior and after each session 
  • Delivering high quality, safe, fun and structured recreational gymnastic classes to children aged 3+
  • Keeping registers up to date and accurate.
  • Ensuring gymnast`s progression is up to date in progress booklets, online reports and awards.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • NGB Level 1 (or equivalent) qualified or working/willing to work towards a qualification.
  • Basic first aid for sports coaches (or equivalent) trained or a willingness to undertake this training before commencing activity.
  • Previous experience or involvement in coaching a variety of different age groups and abilities.
  • Previous experience of delivering in a variety of settings including sports clubs and leisure centres.
  • Knowledge of the delivery of sport.
