Historic Royal Palaces have an exciting opportunity to join them as a Customer service specialist.

The Royal Palaces are an independent charity that look after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle.

You will work for 36 hours over a flexible shift pattern from Monday - Sunday whilst working towards achieving your Customer Service Specialist level 3 qualification.

The training will be delivered in the workplace by YMCA Training - A perfect opportunity to earn whilst you learn.

HRP are seeking an apprentice who can manage their time effectively, deliver all work to a high standard and who is eager to learn and develop their knowledge, skills and abilities and become an ambassador for the Historic Royal Palaces

Key duties:

  • To provide the highest standard of customer care and service in line with the HRP strategy and Cause by proactively greeting and interacting with all visitors and guests
  • Guided by the Interpretation Dept and Curatorial Dept, tell the palace’s stories with panache, in and engaging and entertaining proactive performance style, whilst ensuring accuracy in the content of information given
  • Develop in the role of taking guided tours of KP as required
  • Lead and guide visitors around our palaces providing clear instructions for the many different customers we accommodate
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement within your team and implement where possible
  • To ensure that KP procedures are adhered to (e.g. smoking, photography and handling exhibits)
  • To possess a full understanding of relevant security, health and safety instructions and procedures, and put this understanding into practice in the care of the palace, its guests and its visitors
  • To be fully aware of all aspects of emergency evacuation procedures including the location of emergency equipment
  • Continuously look for ways to improve personal performance and willing embrace new ways of working
  • Carry out the requirements of the apprenticeship programme as outlined by the college provider.
  • Attend college class days and onsite assessment with the aim of successfully completing all criteria outlined as part of the apprenticeship programme
  • By the end of this programme you should be able to deliver the responsibilities in line with the full job profile of an Explainer

The successful candidate:  

  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • IT skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Email. 
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • GCSE in Maths and English grades 9 – 5 or equivalent.

You must be able to satisfy a standard DBS security clearance with no unspent criminal convictions
