Historic Royal Palaces have an exciting opportunity to join ones of the palaces.

The Royal Palaces are an independent charity that look after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle.

You will work for 36 hours over a flexible shift pattern from Monday - Sunday whilst working towards achieving your   Customer Service Specialist level 3 qualification.

The training will be delivered in the workplace by YMCA Training - A perfect opportunity to earn whilst you learn.

HRP are seeking an apprentice who can manage their time effectively, deliver all work to a high standard and who is eager to learn and develop their knowledge, skills and abilities and become an ambassador for the Historic Royal Palaces

Key duties:

  • To provide a high standard of customer care and service in line with HRP’s Cause, by greeting all visitors on arrival and providing a five star goodbye.
  • Gain confidence and knowledge on all tours, activities and facilities available to visitors, and to respond to all customer questions in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • To engage visitors with palace/personality stories as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the area in your designated post is clean, tidy and fully operational, including an inventory check and reporting any defects to your Supervisor/Team Leader.
  • To remain on your designated post and actively patrol that area as required.
  • Be fully aware of all aspects of emergency evacuation procedures including location of emergency exits, equipment and telephones.
  • Control visitor access by checking that all visitors have a valid ticket and ensure that all procedures are adhered to
  • Observe all rules and regulations regarding conduct, dress codes and operational requirements.
  • To ensure that all children / young people and vulnerable adults are safe and protected whilst onsite and to be fully aware of Safeguarding reporting procedures should an incident of concern be witnessed.

The successful candidate:  

  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • IT skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Email. 
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • GCSE in Maths and English grades 9 – 5 or equivalent.

You must be able to satisfy a standard DBS security clearance with no unspent criminal convictions
