Role overview

The team at The Springs Golf Club in Wallingford are searching for a Deputy Course Manager to join their team at their popular club in Oxfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career within the Golf and Greenkeeping profession.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team of Greenkeepers, who play an important role in ensuring that the golf course is maintained to the highest standard.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Course Manager and will be involved with preparation, maintenance and development of all grass areas, bunkers and tees, maintaining equipment and adhering to all relevant Health and Safety guidelines.
You will need to be a team player, able to work under pressure and have the ability to work well with colleagues and have good communication skills. You will also be required to work independently carrying out tasks and work schedule using your own initiative.

This is a full time, permanent position to work variable hours including weekends and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the course, bunkers and tees to the highest standards
  • Maintain all equipment, ensuring any repair work is reported and completed promptly
  • Ensure efficiency, motivation and productivity within the team, requesting and delivering relevant training where required
  • Ensure all grounds and course are kept tidy and free of any debris
  • Deputise for the Course Manager, undertaking additional tasks where required


What experience you will need

  • Previous Greenkeeping experience is essential


What skills you will need

  • Excellent communication skills are essential, both within the team, with guests and with contractors
  • A good eye for detail, to ensure any issues with the course are spotted and actioned promptly
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage time to ensure work is carried out within a strict time frame
  • Full UK driving licence is essential
