At Durrington Swimming and Fitness Centre, we are currently recruiting for a Pool Lifeguard to join our friendly and sociable team working 5.75 hours per week.

About the role

Our lifeguards proactively safeguard the activities taking part in and around our swimming areas whilst enabling and delivering the safe and effective operations of the leisure centre.

You will also be expected to lifeguard pool sessions, ensure the setting up and taking down of equipment is carried out, plus general cleaning tasks and maintenance/building checks.

About you

Along with a valid national pool lifeguard qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent, you should have experience in delivering first aid to casualties and assist in managing incidents, and have general knowledge of leisure centre operations and activities. Those who do not hold an NPLQ or equivalent qualification may be considered for this post, however, the qualification must be attained within 3 months of starting.

You will need to have an awareness of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and be customer focused with excellent communication skills, with an enthusiastic approach and give a positive and professional image at all times.

All Recreation Assistants must attend staff training programmes as required which may fall outside of the working shift pattern. This includes NPLQ as well as additional training sessions, in-line with the job role.
