The Principal Edinburgh on George Street has been welcoming hotel guests since 1881. We are five listed Georgian townhouses, built in 1775 as homes for Edinburgh’s most prosperous citizens. A nod to Edinburgh’s rich literary heritage, The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen was once home to acclaimed novelist Susan Ferrier (an equal of Jane Austen, according to Sir Walter Scott), whilst Burr & Co. is a lovely coffee shop with a devoted local following. The hotel also boasts the magnificent King’s Hall – a firm favourite for weddings and celebration – as well as seven additional meeting and event rooms and a newly equipped gym.

Your day to day

As part of our Housekeeping team, your responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and good order of all rooms to create a pleasant and homely environment for our guests.
You will perform cleaning and maintenance of all storage areas, public areas and employee areas to the required standard. You will handle any guest queries in a courteous and professional manner and escalate as required, as well as reporting any malfunctioning equipment, damaged furniture or maintenance problems. Room Attendants are assigned approximately 13 bedrooms per day, a combination of departures and stay-overs.
This is a full time position, based on a 39 hour week. You must be available to work 5 out of 7 days on a rotation.

What we need from you

To be successful in this role, you should have excellent personal presentation and a strong work ethic. You will be proactive and be able to work under your own initiative. Your passion for consistently meeting our high standards in terms of cleanliness will also ensure that our guests have a comfortable stay with us. Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role.
