Champagne Central is a destination Bar & Lounge, situated within the Grand Central Hotel, attached to Grand Central Station in the heart of Glasgow's City Centre. 

Our Champagne bar overlooks Central Station and evokes the golden age of travel, with a sash of style and lashings of charm. Vintage Champagne is served in coupes, and bottles chilled in elegant vintage ice buckets. As well as being a prestigious champagne bar, Champagne Central boasts an extensive menu of classic and innovative cocktails as well as Afternoon Tea.

Our talented and diverse bar team are looking for an active, hands on Assistant Manager to work alongside the current Champagne Central manager. We are looking for someone who is driven and outgoing, with a positive outlook, who will integrate well with an already strong team.

Champagne Central caters for not only internal guests or residents of the hotel, but also delivers a full Breakfast, Afternoon Tea and Lunch Service for consistent amounts of external customers.

Your day to day

As Assistant Champagne Central Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of running both the floor and bar service, in order to maintain a smooth operation every day. You will be flexible enough to work a variety of different shifts, in order to suit both operational and administrative needs of the bar. Predominantly, you will be focused on the administrative needs of the department on a daily basis; stock and ordering, rotas, payroll, team training, Health & Safety documentation and responding to guest reviews and actioning where improvements need to be made;

  • Stock and inventory management e.g. the ordering and maintenance of both bar and menu items including bar equipment
  • Consistent Guest Experience management through the monitoring of online reviews and the constructive use of the review platforms
  • Play an active role in recruitment and the seamless on-boarding of new team members
  • Leading on team training, in terms of planning and delivery and the monitoring of any training needs of colleagues and actioning
  • Contributing towards maximising the revenue of Champagne Central with fresh, innovative strategies in order to achieve set targets.

What we are looking for

  • Between 2 & 5 years of Supervisory experience or above within a 4 or 5-star establishment is essential
  • You will have extensive and strong experience in Guest Engagement and service delivery techniques, additionally, will have the ability to maintain this whilst managing a full team
  • You will be commercially aware of our competitors in the surrounding areas
  • Experience with stock control e.g. ordering both bar and menu items
  • Confidence in managing the guest experience, such as professional review responses and the constructive use of reviewing tools, in order to ensure that quality levels are maintained and improved upon in line with the Champagne Central Manager’s expectations.
  • The ideal candidate should be charismatic and must possess exceptional communication skills with all groups, such as guests, colleagues, the hotel’s upper management and external suppliers.
