About us

As a Receptionist at the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow, you’ll be the first point of contact for all of our guests. You will be there to give them a warm welcome to the hotel and assist them with checking into their room, booking a table for dinner or arranging trips or excursions during their stay with us.

You will be an individual who is approachable and engaging, well presented and someone who takes pride in their job. You will understand that your role as a Receptionist plays a significant part in all guest stays, in terms of the lasting impression that is given to all guests during their stay at the Grand Central Hotel.

Your day to day

  • Carrying out the check in or check out procedure for all guests to the correct standard
  • Dealing with any guest queries in a professional manner
  • Taking guest’s payments and processing billing 
  • Working alongside and communicating with the Concierge and Nights Team to ensure that the Front of House operation is ran smoothly and efficiently
  • Confirming reservation details with guests on check in, identifying any opportunities for upselling
  • Consistent awareness of VIP guests such as Loyalty members and any additional entitlements they should receive
  • Operating the switchboard as and when needed
  • Ensuring that all traces are reviewed and action on every shift
  • Carrying out any additional duties as reasonably requested by the Front of House Management Team

What we need from you

We are looking for someone who can show commitment to their job on a daily basis and someone who can describe their self as a strong team player and positive team member.

Essential skills and experience;

  • Experience in a previous Reception or Front of House role
  • Flexibility in your working patterns such as weekends and evenings
  • Knowledge of Opera reservations system
  • Professional communication via all channels e.g. face-to face, telephone and email
