Technology Apprentice - Infrastructure and Software Development

Customers are at the heart of everything we do at Asda and in Technology that's no different. In Technology we have six areas:Service, Security and Infrastructure (we call it 'SSI') who look after our core infrastructure, our service teams and our cyber-security teamLegacy Simplification, this team looks at our aging or end of life applications and looks to replace them with more strategic platformsApplication Development and Maintenance (we call it 'ADM'), who look after the development of our systems, data and the maintenance of these appsStrategy and Programme Delivery, this area focuses on partnering with our business to understand their strategy and how Technology can support, architecting that technology and then delivering itGovernance, PMO and Commercial, who look after the projects and programmes in technology and the money we have available to spendDigital who support and develop our three primary websites - ASDA.com, George.com and Asda groceries

We have 3 apprentice opportunities available starting in September 2019 starting with Level 3 and then Level 4
1x L3 Software Development Technician within the Applications Team, progressing onto L4 Software Developer1x L3 Software Development Technician within the Data Team, progressing onto L4 Data Analyst1x L3 Infrastructure Technician within the Workstation Team, progressing onto L4 Network Engineer

What will you be doing?
You will be studying for your level 3 Infrastructure Technician or your level 3 Software Development Technician qualification (similar to A levels) while working in either the Service, Security and Infrastructure function or the Application Development and Maintenance function.

Over the three year course you'll spend time in various teams that will help you apply your learnings into your role. in your first year you'll complete your level 3 and you'll then complete your level 4 in the following years.

We’re looking for someone who's passionate about Technology and Digital, someone who always puts the customer first and is enthusiastic, driven and can balance learning and working.

If your application is successful you'll be invited to an assessment day on 17th June 2019 which will last all day
