Commercial Finance Analyst / Financial Accountant – Asda Logistics Services

The Asda Logistics Services (ALS) Finance team business partners the ALS team to provide commercial analysis and support. The team plays a key role in ensuring we deliver the company plan, through focused cost control and holding teams to account on Every Day Low Cost and Revenue Generating initiatives.
Working as a Commercial Finance Analyst supporting ALS and reporting to the ALS Commercial Finance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the ALS business unit through commercial analysis, financial reporting, business partnering and working with Record to Report and Controllership teams to deliver ALS financial accounts.

What you’ll be responsible for;

Reporting and analysing financial and performance data, in the form of management reports, presentations and adhoc analysis

Developing reporting processes to ensure they remain aligned to the businesses strategy

Ensuring commentary / messages of performance to the wider business are clear, highlighting the key risks / opportunities that need focus

Providing commercial insight into specific hot topics / areas of focus

Carrying out ad hoc work on business cases and post audit

Business partnering a discreet area of ALS e.g. ASCs (Asda Service Centres)

The month end close for ALS, working with the Record to Report and Controllership teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Manage the close and the reporting of ALS financials. Ensure ALS and related teams have access to timely and accurate commercial performance data and are appropriately skilled to use and interpret the information

The ownership and development of reporting to inform decisions and drive actions. This includes working closely with the ALS leadership team to ensure reporting remains fit for purpose and working with the MICE team to implement

About you;

You’ll be either a part of fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and have the ambition and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge. You’ll also need accounting systems knowledge, strong analytical and commercial skills coupled with a logical approach to thinking and problem solving.
There’s a strong sense of collaboration across the business so you’ll need the ability to embrace cross functional working with the wider finance and business teams. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate as a team player will help you to build strong trusting relationships.
