Assistant Supervisor - Dry Activities - Holme Pierrepont Country Park – National Water Sports Centre

Fixed term contract until October

Salary: £7.83 - £8.50 per hour

Holme Pierrepont Country Park, the home of the National Water Sports Centre has excellent water facilities, accommodation, a campsite, Outdoor Adventure Zone, Life Fitness Gym and marvellous nature trails for cycling and walking, it is a favourite destination for families, schools, corporate companies and individuals

The role as Outdoor Activity Leader is being offered on a 25 hours per week fixed term contract until October 2019, with work hours mainly consisting of weekends and school holidays, with significant overtime opportunities available during the latter

Ideally you will have previously worked as activity leader/sports coach/scout-guides-cadet leader or have experience delivering activities or customer service to varied group sizes.

Purpose of Job / Key Objectives

To work with the dry activities department to ensure the smooth delivery a variety of activities and sessions across our Outdoor Adventure. Providing guidance and assistance to the activities team, working with the dry activities supervisor to oversee the dry activities department, and handling day to day operation of the department.

You will be supervising up to 6 members of staff, but this may grow to up to a team of 20 once summer arrives. This a role which will give you responsibility and the chance to wear different hats such as covering reception shifts or filling in for higher duty staff when necessary.

If you have a team leader background either formally or informally and have previous experience or interest of the outdoor industry, this would be beneficial.

Principal Duties  

Responsible for day to day running of the department, which may include; To lead by example and set a high level of safety and professionalism Providing excellent customer experiences

  • Ensuring equipment and facilities are checked as required for activity sessions
  • Responsible for upholding customer safety standards
  • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of prepared safety briefings and sessions in accordance with the code of practice or governing body guidance.
  • Working with the country park team to manage and develop the country park and activity departments.

Experience Level  

  • Experience of delivering a high standard customer service to the public.
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
  • Experience of working as a team leader would be ideal.

 Essential Skills  

  • Good customer care skills
  • IT literate, including word and excel
  • Able to make executive decisions and informed choices relating to the running of the department.
