The Role:

The Receivables Manager is responsible for the management, accounting and reporting of income received, transactional banking, operational cash management and sales ledger.  Ensuring financial control (stewardship) is maintained and best practice is always followed. Responsible for managing team of 12 with three direct reports, support through training, development, motivation and promoting a continuous improvement environment. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage, lead and develop the Sales and Banking team
  • Manage lead and develop a small Sales Ledger/Credit Control function
  • Manage access to banking platforms and ensure all mandates are up to date
  • Maintain the cashflow model reporting on all balances daily
  • Responsible for ensuring the cash flow model is updated when required and is robust
  • Support business banking strategy by building relationships and maintaining bank accounts
  • Identifying the requirement for and developing a suite of reports to show performance against KPI's for the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable teams to include debtor/creditor days reporting
  • Responsible for identifying the requirement for and developing a suite of reports to show performance against KPI's for the cash receipts area controlled by the Sales and Banking team with special emphasis on loss prevention
  • Provide ad hoc reporting to the Head of Corporate Governance and Internal Audit to further assist with loss prevention, attending governance meetings on behalf of Head of Financial Control
  • Responsible for payment practices reporting via the HMRC portal
  • Ensure that all month end outputs required by the other teams are prepared under standard accounting practices and completed accurately and to deadline
  • Assisting the team with more complex journal postings
  • Assist with month end closures as and when required ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately, on time and with commentary
  • Training and mentoring direct reports and administrative staff in standard accounting practices
  • Support the financial control culture by identifying improvements or change
  • Identify, test, implement and document improvements and enhancements to existing processes
  • Provide support to the Head of Financial Control on ad-hoc projects as and required
  • Support the development of an internal control framework to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Actively continuing your own self –development (including full product knowledge) and continuously building skills as a business person and a leader
  • Demonstrate appropriate behaviours and attributes and excellent stakeholder engagement
The Person:
  • Qualified Accountant: Chartered or CIMA
  • Eye for detail
  • Ability to work in high pressure environment
  • Able to multi-task, manage several deliverables simultaneously
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience of high volume processing
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Make timely and rational decisions based on relevant information and experience
  • Work calmly and effectively whilst working under pressure and to deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experienced in multi-site retailer
  • Experience of banking software
  • Knowledge of banking practices
  • Experience of working in a senior treasury role
