Room Attendant/Housekeeper - The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel & Spa - Thame

The Oxfordshire is situated in the heart of the Chilterns, and comprises a 50 bedroom 4 Star Hotel, with Heath club and Spa treatment rooms, as well as a championship Golf Course of outstanding quality.

The Oxfordshire is recruiting for a full-time Room Attendant, to work as part of the Housekeeping team; by assisting the Head Housekeeper in achieving the highest standards of cleanliness in the guest accommodation and public areas.

Salary: £8.21 per hour

Hours: 30+ hours per week.

There will be opportunity for additional hours at busy times although these cannot be guaranteed. Additional hours will be discussed with the post holder as and when they become available.

Room Attendant Key Accountabilities:

  • Provision of a linen replacement service, making of beds and clearing away of items ready for the laundry. Also washing and preparing of items as required e.g. cups and saucers.
  • Readiness for work by preparing all linen, equipment, materials and room replenishment items, such as teas, coffee sachets, biscuits, shampoos etc. at the start of the shift.
  • The safe use of equipment provided such as an industrial vacuum cleaner ensuring that any defects spotted are immediately reported and the equipment is not used e.g. frayed wire, damaged plug etc. The avoidance of hazard creation for others such as the inadvertent blocking of exits, exposure to trailing wires and wet floors without suitable signage.
  • The safe and hygienic cleaning of rooms and areas as designated by a senior colleague, with particular adherence to safe working methods (i.e. rules on lone working) and COSHH regulations e.g. never mix chemicals and use personal protective equipment when appropriate.
  • The cleaning of rugs, carpets and furnishings, hard floors, tiles, mirrors, internal windows and other room and bathroom items during periodic room servicing and ‘deep cleaning’.
  • To be fully conversant with and comply with all Hotel and Company standards of operation, policies and procedures.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duty to assist in the smooth running of the establishment.

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal Room Attendant would have experience of working in a busy hotel/housekeeping environment, however training will be given; the post holder will also possess the ability to work well within a team and also individually.

The Room Attendant will work on a rota basis, working up to 5 days out of 7 (this will be discussed at interview), with a typical working shift being 8am – 3pm, however flexibility outside of these time would be a requirement, due to business need and customer occupancy levels. You will be reporting to the Head Housekeeper.
