We’re Twycross Zoo, an award-winning conservation charity and rapidly growing and evolving visitor attraction, and we’ve got an exciting opportunity for a seasoned HR professional to join our senior leadership ranks.  

Currently attracting 580,000 visitors each year, we’re at a very exciting stage of development as we hit 5 years into a 20-year, £55million masterplan. This masterplan will see us develop new habitats for a refreshed animal collection and enhanced visitor experience, and place us firmly on the map as a destination of choice for a fun-filled educational day out. It’s the reason why we’re transforming at such a pace.

What will this role of Head of HR entail?

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), as the Head of HR you’ll be responsible for all areas of HR, as well as overseeing and co-ordinating Health and Safety with external partners.

Working closely with the COO, you’ll be responsible for devising and implementing the strategic HR plan in line with the business goals and masterplan. You’ll also lead the HR team, providing support, direction and development as required to ensure that we are able to attract, develop and retain the best talent in order for TZ to continue to grow.

What will I need to be considered for this Head of HR vacancy?

• Proven experience as a Head of HR in a fast-paced environment gained within the leisure, tourism, visitor attraction, retail or hospitality industry
• Strong employee relations experience, with up to date UK employment law knowledge
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective and long-lasting relationships
• Ability to challenge decisions, and remain highly effective and resilient in an evolving business
• Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office at an intermediate level, particularly Excel

What will I receive in return?

As the Head of HR you’ll receive a salary of £48,000 per annum, along with fantastic additional benefits including 31 days holiday per annum (inclusive of bank holidays), healthcare, enhanced 5% pension, life insurance x 3 of salary, a staff membership card giving you free entry to the Zoo on your days off and discounts in our retail and food outlets, and free onsite parking.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday (flexible start and finish times can be considered). Due to the nature of our organisation you may be required to work occasional weekend days (not expected to be more than 4 occasions a year).
