Purchase Ledger Clerk - Darwin Escapes

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the purchase ledgers with all invoices, credits and payments in accordance with standard operating procedures at different company sites.
  • Ensure invoices are processed with the correct nominal code.
  • Assisting with purchase ledger enquiries.
  • Reconcile supplier statements on a regular basis.
  • Ensure all departments comply with purchase order procedures, reporting any problems to your manager.
  • Maintain well organised and accurate filing, following the tidy desk policy.
  • Deliver training to staff at the parks.
  • Various project and ad hoc tasks.
  • Ability to manage high volume of workload and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn in a computerised environment and be methodical.
  • Assisting with payment processes.
  • Excel skills at Intermediate to advance level.

A vacancy has become available for a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join one of the Darwin Escapes Head Office Accounts teams at the Head Office in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

This is an interesting role within a friendly, experienced team. Ideally we are looking for someone who has previous experience within a similar role, however this is not essential as training will be given. You will, however, be a self-motivated and driven individual who thrives in a fast paced, busy environment. To be successful in this role you will need good problem solving skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Finally, you will have excellent organisational skills in order to maintain accurate filing and records.

This role would suit someone who has a good level of literacy and numeracy, with a great attention to detail.

You will take part in a range of day to day activities within the Accounts remit. These will include organising and checking invoices and payments, assist in year end stock checks and cash counts alongside general filing and administrative duties. You will also provide support to departments and parks within the group in various ways. This can be in the form of checking queries, clarifying procedures and delivering training.

This is a permanent, full time position. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, however other hours and weekend work may occasionally be required.

The Purchase Ledger Clerk position is ideal for anyone with an interest in Accounts roles, or studying towards professional qualifications within a commutable distance of Wallingford.

What experience you will need

  • Similar previous experience is an advantage, but not essential.

What skills you will need

  • Excellent Knowledge of Excel/ Navision/ Word/Outlook.
  • Driving licence and ability to drive is advantageous to enable you to get to the park.
  • Strong communication skills through a variety of mediums.
  • Positive attitude to work with willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manage your own time and prioritise tasks.
