Sous Chef - Solihull

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as a Sous Chef to help lead and evolve the kitchen operation. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food service and preparation, managing the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef and Second Chef, working in a busy fast paced environment. You must have the ability to communicate effectively between your colleagues and with other departments within the hotel, as well as showing proven team management skills. The ideal candidate will need to be able to integrate with our team, work quickly under pressure, and deliver outstanding products every time, ensuring  that all guests’ needs are met at all times. You will have a good knowledge of the hotel's facilities and services and a good background in a work environment.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Working under the Head Chef, Second Chef ensuring the effective running of the kitchen at all times.
  • Managing a section and supporting in other sections where needed in other areas of the kitchen,
  • Ensuring effective ordering and stock management at all times, working with the Head Chef and Second Chef to ensure the rotation of this. 
  • Work with the porters to ensure effective management of hygiene and cleaning within the kitchen making sure at all times food safety is at its optimum.  
  • Ensure effective stock rotation within the section and within the kitchen, maximise usage of items and eliminate wastage to ensure an effective GP performance.
  • Have an eye for detail and ensure all food made and prepared from your section and throughout the kitchen is outstanding at all times. 
  • The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can multi task effectively, be enthusiastic and positive in their nature and have a willingness to learn.
  •  Must have a passion for Food Safety and cleanliness and ensure the kitchen is operating in like with regulation at all times. 

Shift times will vary, depending on business demands and needs. The kitchen is open daily between 5.00am - midnight. The contract is based on a 48 hour working week.

The hotel boasts 216 rooms, 13 meeting and event rooms ranging from 2 to 200 delegates, a brasserie, lounge & a la carte restaurant. We also have an onsite leisure club with swimming pool, sauna, steam room and onsite gymnasium.
