Assistant General Manager - City of London

M Restaurants have an exciting opportunity to join our Threadneedle Street restaurant as our Assistant General Manager!

M Restaurants is a multi-faceted business which launched its first venue in the City on Threadneedle Street in November of 2014.Our multifaceted venue, houses the award-winning M GRILL restaurant, a Private Members Lounge, destination Cocktail bar, Wine-tasting room and a secret Den, in addition to flexible private dining and event spaces.

In this role you will report to the Restaurant Director.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous London restaurant experience;
  • A great eye for detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational skills and is confident juggling a varied workload
  • Be creative, innovative and confident in problem solving
  • Passion for hospitality with a friendly disposition to smile;
  • Exceptional service standards with attention to detail;
  • Driven and can cope well with a high-pressure environment.
  • Good command of English with the ability to communicate confidently;
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work as part of a team;
  • Being well groomed and takes extra care in appearance

  • Understands the role will sometimes require late finish times
  • On time and reliable
  • Knowledge of Open Table 

Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all staff have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all items listed on the menus and wine list and available as specials by means of regular staff training sessions and tests, to check that all staff can impart this information to the clients correctly.
  • Passion for outstanding food & exceptional customer service
  • Excellent communicator who can motivate, inspire and lead a team
  • To greet clients and to ensure that a base of regulars is rapidly established and maintained by personal contact and recognition.
  • To create a service culture within the team that can deal with challenging clients.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers and staff daily.
  • Become a visible leader within the team and peers, attend all required meetings and take control.
  • Handle all F&B related complaints in a professional manner. Seek advice when required. 
  • Management of rota/holidays and to ensure adequate staff coverage.
  • Ensure that service and hospitality provided by the team are of the highest standard and in line with company ethos
  • Manage the day to day restaurant operations and ensure smooth running of all outlets.
