We are THORPE PARK Resort and we are currently recruiting for a Lead Gardener!
We are currently recruiting for a Lead Gardener, to join our Landscape team. Reporting into our Landscape & Conservation Manager, you will deliver all your assigned areas to the specific presentation standards as set down in our Landscaping Standards; whilst also providing a safe working environment for both employees and guests within the Thorpe Park Resort and wider estate.
As Lead Gardener you will cover all elements of soft landscaping, you will be helping to maintaining various conservation habitats for the benefit of the local ecology along with garden maintenance projects in both the open and closed seasons in the park. You will act as a role model and mentor to Gardeners and Apprentices. Communicating any landscape concerns to your line manager and ensuring you always work in a safe manner observing the company’s Health and Safety policies and attending the necessary training courses.

What is it we’re looking for in a successful candidate?
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Amenity Horticulture
- A minimum of four years’ experience as a professional horticulturist providing some evidence of supervisory experience and leading on small garden projects
- Holding both a full drivers licence and a NPTC PA1&6 in pesticide knapsack application would be essential
- Have good plant knowledge and the ability to mentor and appraise both apprentices and seasonal staff in all aspects of amenity gardening
- Having experience driving tractors with implements and chainsaw handling is desirable
This role is a full time, permanent position based at the Thorpe Park Manor Farm site, Coldharbour Lane, Thorpe Village. Typically you will be working Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm, however hours are flexible and may include working some weekends, evenings and bank holidays. You must have the means to commute to the Landscape base for a 7am start, taking into consideration that public transport is limited.
