DEPARTMENT: CFC Women's Team
JOB FUNCTION: To provide and implement strength and conditioning provisions that maximise the athletic ability of each senior Club Player in all aspects, to maximise the quality of team performance and reduce injury risk.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To assist in the co-ordination of the provision of sports science across the women's 1st team.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of long-term load monitoring & athletic development - ensuring injury risk management & performance enhancement.
  • To liaise closely with the Head of Performance in developing and delivering individualised periodised strength and conditioning plans for the squad.
  • To collaborate with MDT/technical staff to design and implement periodised on field conditioning, concurrently complimenting the manager's current philosophy.
  • Deliver match day warm-ups and training for subs/non-starters in and around matches.
  • Maintain and pack all relevant kit for daily training and match days including appropriate nutritional and hydration products.
  • Act to reduce the risk of injury occurrence throughout the women's 1st team by implementing appropriate screening and injury prevention strategies.
  • Assist in the design and/or enhancement of existing evidence-based protocols for return to train and return to play processes with Head of Performance/medical team.
  • Support MDT with regards to the delivery of S&C provisions for long-term injured players, including assisting in the development of planning/implementing RTT/RTP.
  • To create relationships with MDT staff, coaches, players and the wider business staff to facilitate strong operational delivery and deliver the strategic aims for CFC Women.
  • To engage with CFC men's team staff as required.
  • To collaborate in knowledge sharing processes between CFC Women and other CFC teams and departments.
  • To liaise closely with Head of Performance regarding all relevant data/information for national team camps.
  • To ensure the latest clinical, scientific and technical innovations for applied practice are implemented while maintaining the highest level of care.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Knowledge:
Essential:

  • An extensive understanding of the various sports science/S&C disciplines and their impact on the training and performance of elite athletes.
  • A strong knowledge of fitness & medical screening/injury profiling in the elite sporting population.
  • An extensive knowledge of planning and periodising S&C provisions for a team.
  • Knowledge of football operations and of CFC Women/Women's football.
  • Clear understanding of relevant regulatory bodies in the industry.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of associated topic areas (Coaching/Female Athletes/Sport Medicine/Sport Psychology/Nutrition).

Technical/work-based skills:
Essential:

  • Extensive experience in the provision of strength and conditioning coaching within high performance sport.
  • Extensive experience in delivering individualised S&C programs in a team environment.
  • Experience delivering team based injury prevention plans and sessions.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, Tablets & MS Windows based computer applications, including use of MS Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).

Experience:
Essential:

  • Educated to degree level (BSc) within Sports Science/Strength & Conditioning.
  • Professional accreditation in field of training or ability to achieve within six months (e.g. UKSCA/NSCA or equivalent).

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with female athletes.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Educated to degree level (BSc) within Sports Science/Strength & Conditioning.
  • Professional accreditation in field of training or ability to achieve within six months (e.g. UKSCA/NSCA or equivalent).

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MSc/MPhil/MRes).
  • Further study in the field (such as PhD).
