Apprentice Greenkeeper | Beacon Park Golf Course

Location: Beacon Lane, Dalton, Upholland, Lancashire, WN8 7RU

Working Hours: 36 Per week

Salary: £7,300 per annum, £3.90 per hour

An exciting opportunity has arisen, as we’re looking to recruit an Apprentice Green Keeper to work 36 hours per week between Monday to Sunday.

Beacon Park Golf Centre is part of the West Lancashire Community Leisure Trust. Their vision is the creation and maintenance of a first class range of healthy leisure and recreational activities and facilities to serve all parts of the community.

 

Purpose of role

 

To learn how to become a capable green keeper supporting the green keeping staff of the golf course within West Lancashire Community Leisure, ensuring customer safety and high standards of service at all times is of utmost importance. The role will spend the majority of time outside maintaining the standards of the golf course and learning how to safely operate the machinery involved.

 

 Main Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • To work with the green keepers to become an effective member of the team.
  • To complete the qualifications on the apprenticeship programme.
  • Mowing banks, rough and semi-rough, surrounds and approaches, tees, greens and fairways.
  • Aerating and irrigating turf, applying nutrition and top dressing.
  • Identifying and controlling weeds and pests
  • Marking of hazards, out of bounds and ground under repair
  • Moving tee markers and maintaining bunkers
  • Undertaking routine machine maintenance and preparing machinery for use and storage
  • Attend all training sessions that are part of the apprenticeship programme.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service at all times ensuring you have a full product knowledge of the services and activities available at the centre 
  • Monitoring and maintaining health, safety and security in the workplace.
  • To respond to all communication quickly and efficiently
  • To be compliant with data protection and contract laws at all times.
  • Be an ambassador for your employer

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 

  • Minimum GCSE or equivalent.
  • Have basic knowledge of tactics, technique and rules of golf
  • High personal integrity and motivation
  • An open, honest and friendly outgoing personality.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Self motivated and organised.
  • Friendly and outgoing.
  • Confident and reliable
