Kitchen Manager - Wyevale Garden Centre - Raglan, Usk

Hours: 39 hours per week

We’re looking for a Kitchen Manager to be responsible for the kitchen area, from ordering stock, to ensuring the team are trained in proper food preparation and in kitchen safety techniques. As well as ensuring that our standards are upheld, your role is all about the food – how it looks and how it is cooked, and how quickly it is served, as well as ensuring that the proportions are correct. Critical to the role is ensuring all kitchen operations and activities are carried out in full compliance with our standards and procedures, and is in accordance with all legal requirements.

Working alongside your kitchen team you will:

  • Provide outstanding levels of service and customer experience by constantly looking at ways of improving service
  • Continually look for ways of increasing LFL sales/ATV/margin whilst maintaining robust controls over all costs/waste.
  • Track and support in the management of costs
  • Ensure that all relevant compliance of the F&B & Operations Audit and Health & Safety are executed in line with policy.
  • Be responsible in the absence of the Garden Centre Manager or Restaurant Manager, as point of contact for Environmental Health inspections, Trading Standards and any other external bodies.
  • Be responsible for the daily preparation of food making
  • Ensure the kitchen maintains or exceeds our standards targets for food hygiene and operations
  • Ensure the smooth and successful implementation of all F&B events including our Breakfast & Tea with Santa; all Festive and Easter events and our Mother’s Day experience.
  • Grow and nurture a highly skilled team to drive key initiatives at centre level

Skills and experience required:

  • Able to deliver brand standards, taking full ownership for all results & successes.
  • Be passionate about hospitality, with direct experience working in a leadership/operational role.
  • Commercial operator who is able to consider the bigger picture.
  • Operationally and customer service focussed with the ability to lead by example.
  • A ”hands-on, can do” attitude is essential in providing coaching, facilitation and practical support as required.
  • Successful delivery of all key measurables as detailed on our balance scorecard. These measurables include:
  • Speed of service, customer satisfaction, driving LFL sales growth, effective management of food, management of payroll & key controllable costs, successful implementation of all F&B events
