Junior Buyer – Buyer

Based at George home office in Lutterworth

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Buyer to join our team, here at George House in Lutterworth! This role would suit an experienced Assistant Buyer looking for the next level or an existing Buyer looking for your next exciting challenge in trading. You’ll work closely with specialist Men’s Shirts suppliers to create exciting & innovative product for fashion to support our volume strategy. You’ll have a strong knowledge of the buying process and feel confident to lead a department on your own alongside the merchandising team.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Build strong relationships with our supply base to develop product concepts across the total range

Sole responsibility for buying the whole kids range online & instore

Working closely with the Technologist to ensure all products adheres to quality guidelines

Manage product fits/ overall look with Technologists & suppliers

Responsible for reporting on best & worst sellers weekly, seasonally and on big events such as Back to School

Prepare & deliver event autopsy & strategy, working closely with the Merchandiser & Technologist

Deliver pricing strategy & margin targets, taking responsibility for negotiating all prices, margin building blocks and open to buy meetings

Responsible for critical path management & weekly progressing of all product lines, providing information flow between teams & supplier

Work with marketing & online teams to ensure the product strategy is represented & delivered to the customer

Manage PR, press & photoshoot sample requirements

Responsible for completion of competitor reports especially around key events

Understand competitor pricing strategy and George positioning within the market place, actively driving our pricing & volume strategy

About you:
With experience gained as an Assistant Buyer or Junior Buyer you’ll enjoy working directly with suppliers, be an excellent team player and strong communicator. You’ll also possess:

Strong commercial & negotiation skills

Product development skills – as we do not have an in-house Designer, so you’ll work directly with the supply base

Strategic thinking with the ability to problem solve

The ability to prioritize effectively, work at pace, demonstrate an attention to detail with good numerical, planning and analytical skills

Confidence & ability to buy the whole range across Men’s Shirts
