Basingstoke Sports Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join their team assisting with maintenance work across the Trust’s sites. We are looking for someone who has a background in maintenance work or in a similar practical environment and who has a flexible, can do and will do attitude towards work.

To be successful in this full time position, working 37 hours per week you will need to have mechanical or electrical work experience, a good attention to detail, be comfortable working in different environments including working at heights, have the ability to problem solve and be able to communicate and work effectively as part of a team.

Duties of the job role will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across all Trust sites
  • Completing various basic repairs as instructed including on electrical items and testing repairing mains/ emergency lights
  • Completing building and decoration work to a high standard
  • Basic plumbing repairs and alterations

It is important you have a flexible attitude towards work as hours of work will include evening/night shifts as required to accommodate scheduled maintenance work and emergency callouts. You must hold a full clean driver’s licence and own a car (a mileage allowance will be paid when traveling to other sites) with appropriate insurance and live within 20 minutes travel time of Basingstoke.

You will be based in Basingstoke but will be required to travel to and work at other Trust sites.

BST (Basingstoke Sports Trust) has managed Basingstoke Sports Centre since 1965.  We boast a fantastic sport and leisure offer at the facility in Festival Place and manage a second facility – bst Fitness –in Newbury, West Berkshire.
