Job Details

Better Children's Centres are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to ensure the maintenance, compliance, cleanliness, safety and repair of premises and its contents. Our Children's Centres provide childcare, training and support to families with children under five in our local areas so it's imperative that the facilities and surroundings provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment. You will be expected to work across two areas (Abbey Wood/Thamesmead & Eltham/Kidbrooke) overseeing works in 10 children's centres.

This responsible role will need you to be a real all-rounder and a good problem solver. You'll have proven experience of supervising and managing staff and contractors as well as being able to work alone. With a good eye for detail and understanding of health and safety regulations, you'll see that all contractual specifications are met and that anything that needs rectifying is fixed quickly. This is a hands-on role, so you'll be expected to be part of the team to get the job done! As you will appreciate, security in a children's centre is of the utmost importance and you'll need to make sure that all staff are aware of the necessary security measures and procedures in place as well as undertaking periodic security reviews.

Good communication and computer literacy are a must in this role as well as the ability to be pro-active. You will need to provide audits and reports and work closely with a small team, Heads of Children's Centres and GLL's Facilities Manager. You should have experience of managing projects and budgets as well as creating and implementing improvements to help us to deliver an outstanding, best value quality service. You are required to be pro-active and have a 'can-do' attitude which is an essential skill to enable you to work within a friendly, passionate team. A clean current driving licence is essential. An enhanced DBS will be sought during the recruitment process.

In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:

  • Pension schemes
  • Ride to work scheme
  • Discounted membership at our leisure centres
  • The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we're run plus associated social events
  • Career pathways
  • Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best

If you have the knowledge, skills and passion to be part of our team, apply now.

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications and location.
